Hello,

I'd like to ask you if it's possible to use func-0.27 in the RHEL 5.x
or CentOS 5.x.
In the EPEL 5 is only func-0.24 and in the EPEL 6 is func-0.27 so I
was wandering if it's possible to compile
newer func for RHEL 5.x or CentOS 5.x.

Thx

Filip

Thank you a lot.

It would be great to have it in the epel 5.
I know a few people that are using func from the epel 5 and to have their
own repository for the newer func is kind of impractical.
Does anyone know if there is a plan to upgrade func in the epel5 repo?

thanks

Filip

The biggest issue is about certmaster and the pyopenssl in rhel5.

It is a plan to fix func for rhel5 and into epel5 - it's just not been a
super high priority for me.

I am assuming that using build from Leon is compatible with old certmaster.

Not sure if Leon's package covers the pyOpenSSL bug that has prevented
https://www.redhat.com/archives/func-list/2010-September/msg00035.html
The official fix for RH is supposed to be released as part of RHEL
5.7.
Replied to func-list as you replied to me personally :)

But no, the rpm that i just made was a quick grab from the official srpm
and rebuilt for el5.

I've packaged certmaster 0.27 for you, but i don't know about any
pyOpenSSL bug that Seth mentioned, so i've packaged the latest (0.11) as
well. You can find all the files here:

http://leon.fedorapeople.org/files/func/

No guarantees though ;)

kind regards,

I keep forgetting to hit reply to all...

nope... to get 0.27-1 running on RHEL/CENTOS5 you need the following
packages (leon's are fine instead):

http://nytefyre.net/rpms/certmaster-0.27-1.el5.noarch.rpm
http://nytefyre.net/rpms/func-0.27-1.el5.noarch.rpm
http://www.balldawg.net/repo/x86_64/pyOpenSSL-0.6-1.p24.7.2.2.1.x86_64.rpm

as i've said earlier in this thread, the last package includes a patch that
will be made available in the 5.7 release (supposedly) of RHEL.

Unfortunately, this also means the next func release will have this same
pyOpenSSL requirement since we plan to have it out before 5.7.

Ideally if the fix is actually in 5.7, we can roll these updates into EPEL
at that time, since EPEL tends to follow the dot release cycle as well for
stability sake.
