Hi,

I wanted to let you know that NetDirector, a project with some similarities,
but with a decidedly different
emphasis,<http://www.mail-archive.com/func-list-H+wXaHxf7aLQT0dZR+***@public.gmane.org/msg00073.html>to
func, has been released under the GPL
with its latest release
3.2<http://sourceforge.net/project/platformdownload.php?group_id=162964>.

In addition to ditching the previous mpl-style attribution license in favor
of GPL v2, 3.2 provides many long-awaited bug fixes and enhancements, as
well as a major packaging change -- NetDirector server manager now comes
packaged as a lightweight deb file, compatible with existing installs of
Tomcat, Java5 and postgreSQL on Ubuntu machines. Release notes
here<http://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?group_id=162964&release_id=609239>

Note: while server manager is most easily installed on Ubuntu because of
the deb package, NDAgents install easily and run on all the major distros as
well as Solaris. <http://sourceforge.net/projects/netdirector>

We're very interested in feedback on the project, and also in this lists'
thoughts on potential integration points with func. One thought on what
func and func users might find most interesting about ND as a compliment to
func is the back-end that allows for automated revision control, change
scheduling, rbac, etc.

We'd also be grateful for help packaging NetDirector server manager as an
RPM.

Hearty thanks to Aidan Furlan and Scott McKean of Epoch
Labs<http://www.epochlabs.com.au/>for their effort on this releases of
NetDirector.

Hi,
I wanted to let you know that NetDirector ...
Greg, this is considered off topic for this list as it does not involve
Func. If you are interested in having Net Director use Func for
transport as you were several months ago, that would be on topic.

It would also be on topic if you were contributing modules or features
back to the Func community. Both of these things have been done by
OpenSymbolic, and we are thankful to have them as part of our community.

Let's keep this about Func and things that use it and contribute to it.

I am indeed interested in how we can use func in NetDirector and also how
some of what NetDirector has may be useful to func. One obstacle to both of
these was the former licensing of ND, which is now gone with GPL, so I guess
that's why I thought this wasn't totally off topic.

one other obstacle that remains is my own technical limitations -
personally, I couldn't begin to specify how to contribute chunks of ND code
to func, but I thought folks here might have an interest in this, and I
would like to invite them to do so.

Best,

Greg
